Nice! I did this trip back in 1990 - same route but only one way. All sitting up in a regular seat, no sleeper car. But I was much younger then- lol! It was a huge transition for me - moving back from CA to Chicago to take care of my father who was dying. And the length of the trip felt appropriate for the occasion - that it SHOULD take a longer time to make such a huge transition - flying would be too quick. I needed those days, staring out at that gorgeous scenery to help me mark this passage in my life. I'll always be glad I did it that way.
There's a redwoods to rockies route that I would love to do as well just for fun. It, too, is suppose to be stunning scenery.
